When: July 27, 2011, 11:00am
Where: The Hospital for Sick Children
On July 27th, 2011 Lights Camera Imagine of Canada (LCI) hosted its second event with tremendous success! LCI presented singer, songwriter, and storyteller Heather Whaley and treats from Parties made Simple for an enchanted Teddy Bear Picnic at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. The children, their families and hospital staff were entranced with rhyme, chant, song, treats and special surprises…
The event started with the fabulous volunteers welcoming the children and families in the Bear Theatre where every child was given a teddy bear to keep! Teddy Bears were graciously donated to each of the children by SickKids!
The volunteers and Heather Whaley guided the children and families to their seats and on with the show… and what a show! The look of wonder, inspiration, and imagination on the children’s faces was just as magical as the show! The volunteers, the children, and the parents each introduced their teddy bear, from Loppy Lugs to Patches!
Heather Whaley’s enthusiasm as a storyteller and songwriter was contagious, and she easily captivated the audience of all ages with her animated presentation which includedGoldilocks and the Three Bears and Winnie the Pooh! For the final performance a special visit was made by the LCI family bear to meet the children and dance along to the magical songs!
After the show, Parties made Simple donated delicious cookies for the children and volunteer to decorate. Parties made Simple graciously brought extra cookies for those that could not participate live at the theatre but were able to watch the whole performance from their rooms over a live broadcast!
There was so much love from the volunteers, the families and especially the children, and it moved all of us! We at LCI can’t even begin to express our many thanks to everyone for making this event happen from our Facebook friends, Heather Whaley, Parties made Simple, and our volunteers. Most importantly, thank you to the children for attending and sharing the many hugs, hive fives, smiles and laughs.
The show must go on and more than ever we need your support with “Likes” and Donations. Please continue to spread the love to your friends and community for “Likes” and donate what you can through our online donations to ensure the show goes on across Canada!
