On August 17th, 2011, Lights Camera Imagine of Canada (LCI) held its third exciting event. LCI presented DanceAble, a fun rhythm inspired movement class for all ages and abilities! Heryka Miranda of ReVeAL Dance Creation and the Spirit Movers Dance Troupe came to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto to share her amazing passion and energy for dance. We also had the pleasure of having Mary Sunshine and Aleboo from the Hospital for Sick Children come out to play and share their amazing percussion instruments.

“I have some awesome dance moves and I can’t wait to show you”

Heryka started the event off with a warm up from the tops of our heads to the tips of our toes. Next, we created some great sound with many amazing musical instruments such as maracas, tambourines, triangles and shakers of every type. After having lots of fun with music, it was time to dance! We learned to flow with beautiful scarves and Heryka showed us how to use them to pretend we were imaginative creatures of the sea and sky. After having so much fun with the scarves, we worked as a group to create music and dance together! We wound down by playing our instruments to the beat of the music and laughter of the experience.

There was so much fun and excitement in the air from the volunteers, the families and especially the children; it was so inspiring! We at LCI can’t even begin to express our many thanks to everyone for making this event happen from our Facebook friends, The Hospital for Sick Children staff, Heryka Miranda, and our LCI volunteers. Most importantly, thank you to the children for attending and sharing their many talents, high fives, smiles and laughs.
